    Parents Teachers and Friends Association

Welcome to Clare Community Primary School's Parents Teachers and Friends Association (PTFA). All parents of children at the school become members of this association, which exists to support and advance the education of all pupils.

How do we support our children in the school?

The PTFA meets once or twice a term to discuss and arrange a mixture of social and fundraising activities throughout the year. Like most schools, we hold an annual Christmas fair and a summer term event, which are our primary fundraisers. Money raised contributes to the cost of trips for pupils and visits to the school, as well as to other resources not normally funded from the basic school budget, such as aprons, trikes and sports equipment.

In some cases these activities become free and in others the costs are greatly reduced to make them more affordable. Over the past couple of years we have also organised discos and held film nights for the children and hosted an evening general knowledge quiz for the local community. Every Christmas the children are given the opportunity to design their own Christmas cards, which are printed as high-quality cards to buy and give to friends and relatives.

What can a new parent do?

By joining in the activities of the PTFA, you can find out more about how the school works and get to know other parents and staff at the school. You will also be enhancing the facilities, fundraising for extra resources and helping the pupils to receive a richer education. There’s also a definite possibility of having fun and making new friends at the same time. Some members come regularly to meetings, others offer help for functions, or bake cakes and biscuits to sell, while others may not have so much time to offer but make donations to appeals for raffle and tombola prizes. All help is gratefully received.

Other ways to help

Charity Matched Giving is very simple. Companies or businesses pledge to donate an amount of money that relates to the amount that an employee fundraises for the PTFA. If you think that your employer has a Matched Giving Scheme already in operation, please talk to your PTFA class representative.
